February 2021 - Augusto O. // Raw Passion

My name is Augusto Ocampo. I’m 35 years old. I’m a general contractor with a love and appreciation for vehicles. I definitely consider myself a car enthusiast! For as long as I can remember, I love cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Something about how a car came together, the sound of an engine, vibrations, the body lines, paint, performance, how every car is unique and handle very differently have contributed to my passion.

I remember sitting in the back of my father’s Ford Galaxy when I was a little kid, staring at a hole on the floor boards, taking in that old car smell and wishing he would let me drive followed with the idea I would one day have my very own first car. The idea of my own car drove me to research everything about cars. I started building model cars from my local hobby shop. I knew I wanted my own real car and decided to get my first job at a Carl’s Jr. at the age of 15. That helped me save and work hard as a young teenager and soon enough I was able to purchase a 1963 Chevy C10.  My C10 was the first of many vehicles I purchased and restored throughout the past 20 years.

In 2018, I came across my Avalanche Gray 2017 Shelby GT350. She was a beauty that captivated the car enthusiast in my heart. Not only does Ford GT350 hold 526 N/A horsepower under its hood, a 6 speed Tremec transmission, Magnaride suspension, massive Brembo brakes, along with sexy body lines - complemented with the Rally 1 full Splitter Kit.  But the sound of a v8 flat plane crank was the cherry on top.  Thanks to this car I’ve made many new friends and meet like-minded individuals who share the same passion in the auto industry. We have explored new places and experienced different race track events. Today, I’m part of the club called the SoCal Shelbys. A great group of guys who I can consider good friends. We take part in non-profit events for children, host and participate in car shows event in hope to inspire the next generation of car enthusiast.
