January 2022 - John G. // Trail Monster

Hello! My name is John, or as some of you may call me, “Bastos”, because of my IG handle @BastosXTrek (really should have thought that out).

My rig is a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek in Horizon Blue Pearl with a 6-speed manual transmission named Azula. I sought after a Crosstrek for a couple years ever since I first saw them rolling in the streets. I’m happy to say that I’ve modified my car up exactly how I imagined. My favorite mod on my car has to be between the Rally Innovations Ultimate Light Bar and the DirtComplex Trail Swing. Both add a great look, conversation piece, and best of all functionality.

My passion for cars started when I was a kid, as my father yelled at me to hold the flash light in the proper spot while working on his old '86 Nissan Pickup. Little did I know this was the sowing of of an automotive seed. Another person of influence was my uncle whom introduced me to the car scene through Grand Turismo 2 and his personal cars. Previously, I’ve owned a '93 Honda Civic Hatch and a '04 Subaru WRX Wagon, which I eventually lifted. Currently I have my '21 Crosstrek and my '00 Honda AP1 S2000, which I’ve had for almost 10 years now.

Now a little about me. I was born and raised in Southern California. I served in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years as an Artillery Cannon Crewman. I'm also a musician - I play Electric Bass and Upright Bass. Currently, I'm working on a Ska/Jazz ensemble project with some good friends, but still enjoy playing all genres from Funk to Latin to Metal. Other things I enjoy include trailing, working on cars, cooking, camping, and hiking.
